This presentation first explores what we mean by creativity and ‘the creative process’ in a general sense. It then examines some commonly occurring patterns of creative ideas that appear across a broad spectrum of activity, from art to science. Pattern awareness enhances our own creativity and helps find novel ideas in virtually any human activity.

The second half of the presentation focuses more on creativity in everyday life in the contexts of art and stories, and discusses a variety of inspiration sources described by over a hundred artists, sculptors and photographers.

Irrespective of one’s personal interest in art, there’s something for everyone in this talk that explores creativity in broad terms, laced with a light touch of neuroscience and a large dose of down-to-earth practicality.

SpeakerAnthony Wood
VenueEasingwold Methodist Church

Anthony covers the history of the marque (which has just celebrated its centenary) from its inception in an Oxford garage, through the glory days of the 1930’s (when MG dominated sports car racing) and the post war years where MG introduced America to the sports car - with 80% of all MG’s going to America.

Cheap, stylish and fun, MG was the peoples sportscar and whilst it died in the MG Rover debacle of the early 21st century, it now is resurrected with a blend of petrol and electric cars including the futuristic Cybester sports car.

Anthony has been associated with MG most of his life and got his first one at the age of 13! He still owns the ex-factory racer he bought aged 15 and has owned or driven most models from 1929 onwards. He is currently Chairman of the MG Car Club Tyne Tees Centre and still regularly competes in his 1949 MG TC or 1970 MGB.

A number of facts about Yorkshire that may be news to many. Humour is never far away in any of my talks and that applies to this one as well.

Interactive and the audience get the opportunity to vote on the best Yorkshireman / woman of all time from a short-list of four of each. There is also a vote on the top Yorkshire seaside resort.

Lots of information about aspects of the largest county in England - some of it will be news to all, but maybe also a surprise or two along the way.
